Safeguarding Policy

Safeguarding Policy

1. Policy Statement

East Coast Scaffolding Solutions Ltd is committed to conducting its activities in a manner that safeguards the welfare of children and vulnerable adults who may come into contact with our operations.

While our work is primarily construction-based, we recognise our responsibility to remain vigilant and to act appropriately if any safeguarding concerns arise during the course of our work.

We are committed to acting responsibly, reporting concerns and supporting a safe working environment for everyone affected by our activities.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all employees, subcontractors and anyone working on behalf of East Coast Scaffolding Solutions Ltd.

It covers situations where our personnel may encounter children or vulnerable adults at domestic properties, public areas, schools, healthcare settings or other occupied premises.

3. Our Commitments

We will:

  • Conduct our work in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
  • Avoid inappropriate contact or interaction with children or vulnerable adults.
  • Challenge or report any behaviour that raises safeguarding concerns.
  • Cooperate with site-specific safeguarding requirements where applicable.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision and site controls.

4. Recognising Safeguarding Concerns

Although our staff are not care professionals, they are encouraged to remain alert to potential warning signs of abuse or neglect that may become apparent during the course of their work.

Concerns may include:

  • Signs of physical harm or neglect.
  • Evidence of exploitation or coercion.
  • Behaviour that appears fearful, withdrawn or distressed.
  • Situations that give reasonable cause for concern.

Staff are not expected to investigate but must report concerns appropriately.

5. Responsibilities

The Director has overall responsibility for safeguarding awareness within the business.

All employees and subcontractors must:

  • Behave professionally on all sites.
  • Respect the privacy and dignity of occupants.
  • Avoid being alone with children in enclosed spaces where possible.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately.

6. Reporting Procedure

If a safeguarding concern arises, employees must:

  • Report the concern to management as soon as reasonably practicable.
  • Provide factual information only.
  • Not attempt to investigate the situation themselves.
  • Follow any site-specific safeguarding protocols where in place.

Where there is an immediate risk of harm, emergency services should be contacted.

7. Working on Sensitive Sites

When working at locations such as schools, care homes, healthcare facilities or occupied residential properties, we will:

  • Follow site rules and safeguarding procedures.
  • Cooperate with the client’s safeguarding requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate conduct from all personnel.
  • Maintain secure and controlled work areas.

8. Training and Awareness

We will promote safeguarding awareness appropriate to the nature and size of our business. Staff will be reminded of expected standards of conduct when working in occupied environments.

9. Monitoring and Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure it remains appropriate to the scale and nature of our operations.
