Project Overview
EC Scaffolding was appointed to provide safe access scaffolding at Preston Tower Primary School Nursery, located within the West Loan Campus in Prestonpans.
The scaffold was required to support RP Slight & Sons during a programme of high-level window replacement and window refurbishment works.
RP Slight & Sons carry out construction, refurbishment, commercial joinery and maintenance projects for public and private sector clients. Their portfolio also includes school refurbishment and window replacement projects across East Lothian, making safe and dependable access an important part of this type of work.
Execution
The main requirement was to provide secure working access to windows positioned at height around the nursery building.
Our team installed the scaffold to give contractors suitable working platforms from which the existing high-level windows could be safely accessed, removed, refurbished or replaced as required.
Particular attention was paid to creating practical access around the working areas while maintaining a strong focus on site safety.
As the work was taking place at an educational and childcare facility, the scaffold installation also needed to be carefully planned around the nature of the site and the people using it.
RP Slight & Sons’ own work covers planned maintenance, refurbishment and commercial joinery, including previous window replacement programmes within schools. The scaffold therefore needed to provide dependable access for detailed joinery and refurbishment work as the project progressed.
Outcome
The completed scaffolding provided RP Slight & Sons with safe and reliable access to the high-level windows at Preston Tower Primary School Nursery.
This allowed the window replacement and refurbishment works to be carried out from stable working platforms while giving the contractor the access required across the relevant elevations.
The project is another example of EC Scaffolding supporting refurbishment and maintenance contractors on schools and public-sector buildings throughout East Lothian and the wider Edinburgh area.
